25% energy savings in wire rod drawing
Nexans, international cable manufacturer with headquarters in Paris, has presented its "Suppliers' Awards". Maschinenfabrik Niehoff, one of the world's leading manufacturers of machinery for the wire and cable industry, won the supplier award in the category: "Sustainable Total Cost Competitiveness" for the joint development of a wire rod drawing line in which specialists from both companies were involved. The plant stands out due to its 25% higher energy savings and 60% higher production output compared to the previous standard.
The supplier award was presented at the beginning of September at the "Nexans Suppliers Day". Around 250 people were present in person at the event in Paris, and another 300 were online when the "Suppliers' Award" was presented in five categories.
At the Nexans Suppliers Day, the company informs its key suppliers about its strategic plans according to the Nexans E3 concept (Environment, Economics, Engagement) and discusses expectations, approaches and goals with them. Key topics are sustainability and company social responsibility (CSR) while maintaining competitiveness.
All these topics are also a strong focus at Niehoff. For example, we are a member of the "Blue Competence" sustainability initiative of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and have committed ourselves to complying with the twelve sustainability principles of the engineering industry. With regard to our corporate social responsibility (CSR), Niehoff also cooperates with EcoVadis, an international platform for sustainability ratings.
